Big Changes Ahead ...
All of the previous entries from 2004 - 2007 will be removed as the days and weeks progress (over six hundred entries will take some time). It is time for a change. As the old signs would say, "Watch This Space" for the changes that will be coming soon.
I have been "locked-out" of Blogger for almost two months due to some freaky glitch in the system that was NOT recognizing my user name & password. All of my attempts to contact Blogger support was in vain. In addition, I was having problems with my cable internet connection, making it difficult to connect to the internet and get support for my blog problems, as well as my internet connection problems.
The symbol of the "circle" has endured as a metaphor for love and commitment. Lovers have exchanged gold bands as a symbol of commitment for more than 1000 years. Ancients believed that the veins from the third finger of the left hand actually led to the heart; hence the nomination of the ring finger as the symbol of unending love and unity.
Being Irish, I really like the Irish Royal Claddagh Gold Ring as a wedding band. Here is the tale of The Claddagh Story:
This famous Irish wedding band dates back to a romantic legend of the 17th century. An original symbol of the "Fisher Kings" of the Galway town of Claddagh, (pronounced clada) in Ireland, the design was first fashioned into the traditional ring during the reign of Mary II.
The story goes that a young Irishman Richard Joyce, was kidnapped at sea by pirates and sold to a Moorish goldsmith, who taught him the craft of jewelry-making over the many long years of his exile.
In 1689 King William III negotiated the return of the slaves and Joyce returned to Galway - despite the goldsmith's offer of his daughter's hand in marriage and a handsome dowry.
Joyce returned home to his one true love, a young woman who had remained equally faithful. He presented her with the now famous Royal Claddagh gold ring as a marriage proposal, and a symbol of their enduring love.
The two hands on the ring represent their friendship, the crown signifies their loyalty and lasting fidelity, and the symbol of the heart symbolizes eternal love.
They soon married, never to be separated again. The tradition of the claddagh ring lives on to the present day ...
"Mo Anam Cara, Gra Go Deo - Gra Dilseacht Cairdeas"
I just read an article called the Top 10 Business Buzzwords. Why do people seem to like to "verb" words? I guess that's how to catch the latest buzz, huh?
The words that made the Top-10 are:
Drive;
Incent;
Delayering;
Narcissurfing;
Deep dive;
Bleeding edge;
Offline;
Ping;
Al desko; and
Defrag.
and you can check out the detailed descriptions of each word in the article referenced above. I think organizations create their own "geek-speak" out of some ancient tribal need to bond with other tribesmen and keep the "outsiders" out.
The entire Nickleback CD is terrific, but this is my new favorite song. It has a lot of emotion wrapped up in it, both in the lyrics, and in the moment when it was first played for me by someone very special.
